Sutton’s FA Cup fourth-round picks take on Daffy Duck and Porky Pig

Football analyst Chris Sutton, a BBC Sport expert, is pitted against Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, as well as artificial intelligence, as he provides his forecasts for each of the 32 matches in the FA Cup’s third round.

For the FA Cup's fourth round, BBC Sport football expert Chris Sutton is joined by special guests Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, stars of the upcoming film 'The Day The Earth Blew Up', as they provide predictions for all 16 matches.

The Looney Tunes duo will offer their take on each tie, and viewers can compare their predictions with those generated by AI, available below.

Do the predictions from Daffy and Porky align with your own expectations, or do you think the AI has a better handle on the outcomes?

'The Day The Earth Blew Up' is set to hit UK and Irish theaters on February 13, marking the first feature-length film to showcase the Looney Tunes characters.

The origins of Daffy and Porky date back to the 1930s, with the initial voice actor for Porky incorporating his own stutter into the character's speech.

As the FA Cup approaches, Chris Sutton introduces his guests, saying, "This weekend, we have the historic FA Cup competition, known for its surprises and underdog stories, where top Premier League teams sometimes fall to part-time sides. Are you both excited?"

Daffy responds, "I'm thrilled, it's tremendous! Although, I must admit, I'm not entirely sure what it's all about."

Porky chimes in, "I enjoy various athletic competitions, particularly baseball and basketball. I just hope the best team wins."

Given the FA Cup's rich history, dating back to 1871, Chris Sutton asks if he can trust Daffy and Porky to care for the iconic trophy.

Daffy confidently asserts, "Of course, I'm trustworthy. To prove it, I'll take the trophy for safekeeping… far, far away."

However, Porky corrects Daffy, pointing out that he has mistakenly taken a tea cup instead of the trophy, noting that the British are fond of drinking tea.

Daffy retorts, "Oh, you think you're clever, don't you? Wasting my time!"

A comparison is drawn between Daffy and another outspoken Looney Tunes character, Foghorn Leghorn.

Chris Sutton poses a challenge to Daffy and Porky, asking if they can outdo him in predicting the correct scores, and how confident they are in their abilities.

Daffy boasts, "My prediction is that we will destroy him! Annihilate him! Crush him! We'll be victorious!"

Porky takes a more measured approach, saying, "Let's not get carried away, Daffy. It's just a friendly competition. What matters most is that we all have a good time."

Daffy reiterates, "And we'll win, of course!"

Chris Sutton recalls Daffy's encounter with Michael Jordan in Space Jam and asks if Daffy would like his autograph, given his own achievements in the Premier League.

Daffy dismisses the idea, stating that he has no time for boastful people and would rather deal with them in a more… forceful manner.

Porky is asked how he would feel about having Chris Sutton as a sidekick instead of Daffy, and if he would be equally loyal to him.

Porky replies, "I pride myself on being faithful, but I must admit, having a less chaotic housemate might be a welcome change."

Chris Sutton empathizes with Porky, drawing parallels between working with Robbie Savage and teaming up with Daffy, citing similarities in their behavior.

The conversation turns to soccer, with Chris Sutton asking if Daffy and Porky would be interested in playing the sport.

Daffy claims that his exceptional athletic abilities would make it unfair for him to compete against human teams, given his experience in defeating the "Monstars" in Space Jam.

Porky, on the other hand, expresses interest in being a referee, citing his fondness for the whistle.

The idea of Daffy and Porky as a managerial duo is proposed, with some managers embodying Porky's optimistic nature and others mirroring Daffy's desperation for attention.

Daffy envisions himself as a great player, coach, and entrepreneur, with a stadium named "Daffy Stadium" and a team called "Daffy United."

Porky, meanwhile, believes his experience as a talent agent would serve him well as a head coach, and he's been studying the offside rule to prepare.

The rules for the predictions are outlined, with no replays and matches decided by extra time and penalties if necessary.

The gap in league positions between teams is noted, providing context for the upcoming matches.

The AI predictions were generated using Microsoft Copilot Chat, which was asked to forecast the score of each tie.

The first match is scheduled to take place at the MKM Stadium at 19:45 GMT.

The matchup features a Championship team ranked 4th against a Premier League team ranked 5th.

Chelsea's manager, Liam Rosenior, has a strong connection to Hull, having played for and managed the team in the past, and is expected to receive a warm welcome.

However, Rosenior is under pressure to deliver a win, particularly after Chelsea let a two-goal lead slip against Leeds in their previous match.

Rosenior has achieved notable results with Chelsea, but some fans remain unconvinced, and he sees the FA Cup as an opportunity to prove himself and win a trophy.

Despite Hull's strong performance in the Championship under Sergej Jakirovic, Chris Sutton believes Chelsea's superior strength will give them the edge.

Chris Sutton recalls his own experience playing against Hull in the FA Cup, where Chelsea won 6-1, and predicts a comfortable win for Chelsea this time around.

Sutton's prediction for the match is 1-4 in favor of Chelsea.

Daffy exclaims, "It should be a fantastic game! Woo-hoo!"

A trip to Hull is likely on the cards for Chelsea, according to Porky.

Daffy and Porky predict a 1-0 outcome.

The match pits the 6th-placed team in the Championship against the 3rd-placed team.

With both teams vying for promotion, they will face each other again in the league in Wales the following weekend.

It will be interesting to see if Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna decides to make changes to his strategy.

Given Ipswich's proximity to the automatic promotion spots, Kieran McKenna may choose to adjust his approach, potentially creating an opportunity for Wrexham.

Despite this, the match is expected to be closely contested; however, for the sake of Mr. Fields, a supporter, a prediction of an Ipswich loss is being made.

Wrexham, with their significant financial resources, are unlikely to be aided by their celebrity connections in their bid to reach Wembley, but they will focus on the playoffs after this match.

Sutton predicts a 1-1 draw after extra time, with Ipswich emerging victorious in the penalty shootout.

Daffy jokingly warns Ipswich Town to be cautious with their tractor.

Porky expresses enthusiasm for Wrexham, suggesting they will be the team to support.

Daffy and Porky predict a 1-0 outcome.

Daffy, Porky, and Petunia Pig appear in an episode of The Day The Earth Blew Up, battling a bubble gum monster.

The match is scheduled to take place at Pirelli Stadium at 12:15.

The 22nd-placed team in League One faces the 18th-placed team in the Premier League.

Burton, struggling in League One with only one win in their last nine league games, have shown scoring prowess in their FA Cup wins, suggesting they may find the net again at home.

However, a surprise outcome is unlikely, as West Ham appears to have regained momentum and will be motivated to maintain it after conceding a late equalizer against Manchester United.

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo will likely field a strong team to ensure progression, despite potential changes to the lineup.

Sutton predicts a 1-2 outcome.

Daffy, recalling a past experience with zombie bubble gum, expresses support for Burton Albion.

Porky agrees with Daffy, anticipating a tight match, but notes that bubbles can be challenging to overcome.

Daffy and Porky predict a 2-1 outcome.

The 19th-placed team in the Premier League faces the 12th-placed team in League One.

Burnley fans may be underestimating the challenges faced by promoted teams in the Premier League, looking at the performances of Sunderland and Leeds.

After a much-needed win over Crystal Palace, Burnley manager Scott Parker cannot afford a setback against a mid-table League One team.

Burnley previously demonstrated their ability to handle a tough opponent, defeating Millwall in the previous round.

The match is expected to be entertaining, with goals, as Mansfield has shown their ability to score, beating Sheffield United 4-3 in the last round.

Sutton predicts a 3-2 outcome.

Daffy jokingly questions the existence of certain teams.

Porky decides to support Mansfield.

Daffy and Porky predict a 0-1 outcome.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Etihad Stadium at 15:00.

The 2nd-placed team in the Premier League faces the 6th-placed team in League Two.

Manchester City's significant superiority is expected to result in a convincing win, similar to their 8-0 victory over Salford City in the previous season's FA Cup.

Salford, under the management of Karl Robinson, has been performing well in League Two but will likely be outclassed by Manchester City.

Sutton predicts an 8-0 outcome.

Daffy is unfamiliar with Salford but recognizes Manchester City.

Porky finds this sufficient reason to support Manchester City.

Daffy and Porky predict a 3-0 outcome.

The 16th-placed team in the Championship faces the 19th-placed team in the Championship.

Predicting the outcome of this match is more complex than just examining recent performances. While West Brom are currently struggling and Norwich are on a winning streak, having defeated the Baggies 5-0 on January 20, injuries are a significant concern for my former team.

Despite the challenges, I'm backing Norwich in this one. Under Philippe Clement's guidance, the team is performing well, and Mohamed Toure's impressive hat-trick in his first start against Oxford on Tuesday is a notable highlight.

Clement revealed that he showed Toure videos of Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku to demonstrate how they create space and utilize their physicality, respectively, in order to inspire the young player.

If Toure needs further motivation, perhaps someone at Carrow Road can dig up old footage of my time with the Canaries, although finding a compatible playback device might be a challenge.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Daffy, upon learning that Norwich is Chris Sutton's former team: I'm not sure why you keep mentioning this Chris Sutton; it doesn't seem relevant to me. As a result, I'm going to choose a different team, perhaps from the Women's Basketball Association.

Porky: It appears that WBA stands for West Bromwich Albion.

Daffy: That's interesting. I wonder if there are other teams like East Bromwich, North Bromwich, or South Bromwich. The name Bromwich seems to be quite common.

Daffy & Porky's prediction: 1-2

A League One team ranked 24th will face a Championship team ranked 8th.

Port Vale is currently struggling at the bottom of League One, while Bristol City, despite being inconsistent, remains just a point away from the Championship play-off spots.

Although Bristol City has a crucial match against Wrexham on Tuesday, which might serve as a distraction, I believe they will still advance to the next round.

Sutton's prediction: 0-2

Daffy: It seems like everyone in this country has their own team. I'm curious to know how many more teams exist.

Porky: The name Bristol sounds similar to bristle, which is a type of hair found on pigs.

Daffy & Porky's prediction: 0-2

The match will take place at St Mary's Stadium at 15:00.

Two Championship teams, ranked 9th and 21st, will face each other.

The previous league match between these teams was remarkable, with Leicester leading 3-0 at halftime only to lose 4-3 in the 97th minute.

It's difficult to predict how Leicester will recover from such a defeat. Although they will likely be motivated by anger, the loss may have damaged their confidence and morale.

Leicester is currently facing significant challenges, including a recent points deduction and the absence of a permanent manager, with Andy King serving as caretaker boss.

Southampton, on the other hand, is one of the top-performing teams in the division, with four wins in their last five matches, and I don't expect Leicester to exact revenge in this match.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Daffy: I'm having trouble deciding between Southampton and Leicester.

Porky: The correct pronunciation is "Lester."

Daffy: I'm confused by the spelling and pronunciation of these team names.

Daffy & Porky's prediction: 3-1

A Premier League team ranked 3rd will face a team ranked 10th.

I was pleased to see Newcastle's manager, Eddie Howe, receive a positive reception from the team's fans after their win against Tottenham.

The fans' previous calls for Howe's dismissal seem unjustified, given his contributions to the team.

However, this upcoming match will be a different challenge for Newcastle, and I'm relying on my intuition to make a prediction.

The two teams recently met, with Villa emerging victorious at St James' Park in late January. Although Villa has experienced some setbacks at home, they tend to perform well when their strategy comes together.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Daffy, upon learning that Newcastle is nicknamed the "Toon" and their fans are called the "Toon Army": I'm drawn to the name "Toon," and I also like the sound of staying in a nice villa.

Porky: Remember the movie Space Jam, where the Looney Tunes characters played basketball? It's a classic.

Daffy & Porky's prediction: 0-2

A Premier League team ranked 6th will face a team ranked 14th.

Both Liverpool's Arne Slot and Brighton's Fabian Hurzeler are under pressure, but Hurzeler's situation appears more challenging.

Brighton is currently on a poor run, and their recent home defeat to Crystal Palace was marked by unrest among the fans, who seem to have lost faith in Hurzeler. Although this seems harsh, it's difficult to reverse such a trend once it has begun.

Brighton previously beat Manchester United away in round three, and Hurzeler could greatly benefit from another away win, this time against Liverpool.

Liverpool's recent struggles to close out games could be a concern, but they may still manage to edge out their opponents.

Sutton's prediction: a 1-1 draw after extra time, with Liverpool emerging victorious in the penalty shootout.

Daffy: Liverpool is a city I've heard of, thanks to The Beatles.

Porky: Apparently, if you're unfamiliar with soccer, it's acceptable to claim you support Liverpool.

Daffy and Porky's prediction: a 4-1 win.

This matchup pits the 10th-placed team in the Championship against the 15th-placed team in the Premier League.

Leeds' impressive comeback against Chelsea was remarkable, but an upset could be on the cards in this match.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke is likely to make some changes to his lineup, as he will be keeping an eye on their upcoming Premier League game against Aston Villa.

Birmingham, under the guidance of Chris Davies, has been performing well and is unbeaten in eight games across all competitions, making this a good opportunity for them to defeat a top-flight team.

Sutton's prediction: a 1-0 win.

Daffy: I wasn't aware that a team from Birmingham could compete here.

Porky: I don't think it's the same Birmingham.

Daffy: I'm supporting Birmingham.

Daffy and Porky's prediction: a 100-0 win.

This match features the 12th-placed team in League Two against the 20th-placed team in the Premier League.

I have firsthand knowledge of Grimsby, having attended their Carabao Cup victory over Manchester United earlier in the season.

A similar upset could occur again, with David Artell and his players likely to be motivated by the electric atmosphere.

This game poses a significant challenge for Wolves, and their manager Rob Edwards needs to find a way to advance to the next round.

Wolves have had a disappointing season, and their situation could potentially worsen.

I believe Grimsby could pull off another surprise win, potentially forcing the game into a penalty shootout, which they would win.

Sutton's prediction: a 1-1 draw after extra time, with Grimsby winning the penalty shootout.

Daffy: Grimsby sounds like a grim place, so I'll support Wolves.

Porky: I hope Wolves run out of steam.

Daffy's prediction: a 0-1 win for Wolves.

Porky's prediction: a 1-0 win for Birmingham is not relevant here, but rather a 1-0 win.

The match will take place at Kassam Stadium, starting at 14:00.

This matchup features the 23rd-placed team in the Championship against the 11th-placed team in the Premier League.

Both teams advanced to this round by winning penalty shootouts, with Oxford defeating MK Dons and Sunderland overcoming Everton.

However, I don't think Sunderland will need a shootout this time, as Oxford has been struggling and was recently defeated by Norwich.

Regis le Bris will likely make some changes to his lineup, but Sunderland is expected to be too strong.

Sutton's prediction: a 0-2 win for Sunderland.

Daffy: As Sunderland is known as the Black Cats, they might not get along with Tweety Pie, so they should team up against cats.

Porky: Oxford is a city known for its academic institutions, so I think they'll outmaneuver their opponents.

Daffy and Porky's prediction: a 3-1 win.

The match will take place at Bet365 Stadium, starting at 14:00.

This matchup features the 14th-placed team in the Championship against the 12th-placed team in the Premier League.

Stoke's manager, Mark Robins, is a former teammate of mine from Norwich, and he's an excellent manager, but I think Fulham will win.

Marco Silva's situation with Fulham is uncertain, but he'll likely want to make a strong finish to the season.

I appreciate the way Fulham plays, and they have a good chance of making a deep run in the FA Cup.

Sutton's prediction: a 0-2 win for Fulham.

Daffy Duck seems to think he has an idea which team Porky Pig might be supporting in this match.

Porky Pig enthusiastically agrees that a full ham is a great choice, and he's on board with it.

The prediction from Daffy and Porky is a 0-3 scoreline.

The match is set to take place at Emirates Stadium, with a kickoff time of 16:30.

This fixture pits the top team in the Premier League against the 21st-ranked team in League One.

The last time these two clubs met was in the 2014 FA Cup semi-final, where Arsenal emerged victorious in a penalty shootout, with Mikel Arteta scoring during the shootout, and the Gunners went on to defeat Hull in the final.

Since then, Wigan's fortunes have taken a turn for the worse.

The team has recently parted ways with manager Ryan Lowe after slipping into the League One relegation zone, making it unlikely they will be able to force a penalty shootout this time around, regardless of the changes Arteta makes to the lineup.

Arsenal has not experienced much success in the FA Cup since Arteta led the team to victory in the 2019-20 season, just a few months into his tenure as manager.

The team has not advanced past the fourth round since then, but it is expected to reach the last 16 this time.

With their current depth of talent, Arteta has a realistic chance of winning four trophies this season, a significant departure from his previous struggles to secure any silverware.

As the season enters its final months, the question on everyone's mind might be whether Arsenal can achieve the Quadruple.

Chris Sutton predicts a 3-0 scoreline in favor of Arsenal.

Daffy Duck points out that one issue with Arsenal's approach is that they often try to score goals by simply walking the ball into the net.

Porky Pig confirms that he has also heard this criticism of the team.

Daffy and Porky predict a 0-1 scoreline in favor of the opposing team.

The match will be played at the Leasing.com Stadium, with a kickoff time of 19:30.

This fixture brings together the 6th-ranked team in the National League North and the 7th-ranked team in the Premier League.

Chris Sutton will be providing co-commentary for the match on 5 Live, alongside Ali Bruce-Ball, and he is looking forward to it.

Macclesfield manager John Rooney led his team to a historic victory over Crystal Palace in the previous round, a notable achievement.

After rewatching the game, it's clear that Macclesfield had less than 29% possession but managed to limit Palace's scoring opportunities, earning them a deserved win.

Their upset victory over the holders was hailed as the biggest shock in FA Cup history, and it would be an impressive feat if they can also defeat Brentford.

Only one non-league team has ever beaten two top-flight teams in the same FA Cup campaign, Millwall in the 1913-14 season, who defeated Chelsea and Bradford City.

If Macclesfield can replicate their performance against Palace, they have a good chance of winning, particularly on their home turf.

However, Brentford is likely to be prepared for them, and Keith Andrews' side is having a strong season.

Andrews will need to balance his lineup, and Brentford may be due for a deep FA Cup run, having not reached the quarter-finals since 1989.

This match is expected to be closely contested, but Chris Sutton believes Brentford will narrowly win.

Chris Sutton predicts a 1-2 scoreline in favor of Brentford.

Daffy Duck is confused about the match, questioning what a "Maccle" is and why the team is called the Silkmen, leading him to support Brentford.

Porky Pig responds with a poetic comment about bees and honey, and his affection for Petunia.

Daffy and Porky predict a 0-3 scoreline in favor of Brentford.

Chris Sutton's comments were made in an interview with BBC Sport's Chris Bevan, while Porky Pig and Daffy Duck's remarks were shared with Dan Berlinka.

The AI-generated predictions were created using Microsoft Copilot Chat, which was asked to forecast the score of each match.

Spielberg Contributes $25,000 to Van Der Beek’s $2 Million Crowdfunding Campaign

The relatives of the deceased actor, known for his role in Dawson’s Creek, have expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the $2m fund.

A donation of $25,000 (£21,000) has been made by film director Steven Spielberg and his wife, Kate Capshaw, to a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $2m (£1.6m) for the family of late actor James Van Der Beek.

Van Der Beek, who passed away at the age of 48, is survived by his wife Kimberly and their six children, and the crowdfunding effort to support his family has now exceeded its initial target of $2m.

Other notable donors include Oscar-winning actress Zoe Saldana, who contributed $2,500 (£2,108), and director Jon M Chu, who gave $10,000 (£8,432) to the cause.

A statement from the organizers of the fundraiser, Friends of the Van Der Beek family, expressed gratitude to all contributors, stating that their support is deeply appreciated.

The statement highlighted the significance of the donations, saying that the kindness shown by contributors is beyond words.

It also noted that the outpouring of support has been a source of comfort during a difficult time, serving as a reminder of the power of love, community, and the enduring legacy of James Van Der Beek.

Van Der Beek was perhaps best known for his starring role in the popular US teen drama series Dawson's Creek, which aired from 1998 to 2003, although he remained associated with the show until 2023.

Although Van Der Beek and Spielberg never collaborated on a project, the late actor's character in Dawson's Creek was a fan of Spielberg's work, with posters of films like ET and Schindler's List featured in his bedroom.

At a Dawson's Creek cast reunion event last year, Spielberg paid tribute to Van Der Beek by sending a video message.

In the message, Spielberg said, "Dawson, you made it," and jokingly added that he hoped to one day have a room like Dawson's, filled with memorabilia from his films.

Van Der Beek passed away on Wednesday after a battle with bowel cancer.

He had been dealing with the diagnosis since August 2023 and publicly disclosed his condition in November 2024.

The GoFundMe campaign was launched to help the family with medical expenses, which had depleted their funds.

The statement from the organizers concluded by saying that the family is currently taking time to grieve and be together, and thanked everyone for their compassionate and generous support in honoring James Van Der Beek's life.

Zimbabwe Shocks Australia with Muzarabani’s Exceptional Performance

Zimbabwe secured a stunning 23-run victory over Australia in the T20 World Cup, with Blessing Muzarabani playing a key role by taking 4-17.

In the current T20 world rankings, Zimbabwe occupies the 12th position.

The Men's T20 World Cup is underway in Group B at Colombo.

Zimbabwe's innings concluded at 169-2 after 20 overs, with Bennett scoring an unbeaten 64 off 56 deliveries, while Green claimed 1-6.

Australia's reply ended at 146 after 19.3 overs, as Renshaw top-scored with 65 off 44 balls, and Muzarabani took 4-17.

The match resulted in a 23-run victory for Zimbabwe.

A standout performance from Blessing Muzarabani, who took 4-17, helped Zimbabwe secure a thrilling 23-run win over Australia in the T20 World Cup.

After being set a target of 170, Australia found themselves in trouble at 29-4, but a 77-run partnership between Matthew Renshaw and Glenn Maxwell for the fifth wicket gave them hope.

With 34 runs needed from the last two overs, Renshaw's dismissal for 65, caught off Muzarabani with eight balls remaining, essentially sealed the game's outcome.

The result has left Group B finely balanced after two matches each, with Australia trailing Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka by two points, ahead of their meeting with Sri Lanka on Monday.

Initially, Zimbabwe's approach to batting first at the R. Premadasa Stadium appeared overly cautious.

Brian Bennett's innings of 64 not out from 56 balls, including seven fours, was played at a strike rate of 114.28, as he anchored the Zimbabwean batting.

In contrast, Tadiwanashe Marumani and Ryan Burl adopted a more aggressive approach, scoring 35 off 21 and 30 balls, respectively.

A late surge from Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza, who scored 25 off 13 balls, including the team's only six on the final ball, provided a boost to their total.

Australia's target seemed achievable, given their total of 182-6 in their previous win against Ireland.

However, the Australian batting line-up was severely dented by the loss of key wickets, including Josh Inglis, Travis Head, Cameron Green, and Tim David, courtesy of Muzarabani and Brad Evans.

A partnership between Renshaw and Maxwell offered some respite, but when Maxwell fell for 31, dragged on to Burl, the pressure mounted on Australia.

Muzarabani's return to bowl the penultimate over proved decisive, as he removed Renshaw, and Zimbabwe subsequently wrapped up the win.

There are calls for the ICC to review the rules regarding 12th men.
